At least it was supposed to be, except the nice people at Strato didn't accept my cancellation because it was 'invalid'.

Therefore, those nice people charged me for another full year of web-hosting for a site I already made it clear I didn't want anymore. And this is the second time this has happened. I had the same experience with another account I had with them. Reason: For contracts made before May 2009, you will not receive a reminder that your yearly subscription is about to expire. The first time you are reminded again is AFTER the automatic renewal when you receive the invoice that has already been charged to your card. So then it's too late to cancel for another 12 months. You see, they are REALLY nice people.

As a customer you will find that it is near impossible to find what you are looking for, for example if you search FAQ for 'cancel account', all you find is questions and answers about getting more services, upgrading your account etc. Nothing about cancelling. And this is the way it goes. They don't accept your cancellation, steal another year's worth of subscription, and THEN they'll let you go. My recommendation is: don't touch!
